V. Justice

Justice is the discipline of applying the same standard consistently, regardless of preference, emotion, power, or convenience. It governs how you treat others when bias, loyalty, or self-interest would distort the measure. If standards shift by person or circumstance, justice has failed.

Justice governs conduct through these rules: • Standards are applied uniformly, not selectively. • Credit is given accurately; blame is assigned precisely. • Favor is not exchanged for approval, comfort, or advantage. • Obligations are met fully, without exaggeration or neglect. • Decisions consider impact on others, not only personal outcome. Justice is accuracy in conduct.

Justice must be enforced: • When loyalty tempts partiality. • When power allows exemption without consequence. • When another's mistake could benefit you. • When silence would protect you at another's expense. • When resentment seeks to withhold what is due. • When generosity becomes performative or self-serving. These are tests of measure, not emotion.

Apply the standard. Hold the line. • Apply the standard: identify what is objectively due. • Hold the line: give exactly that, no more, no less. Deviation is injustice, even when well-intended.

Justice has been abandoned if you notice: • Making exceptions without principle. • Treating similar cases differently. • Withholding credit or responsibility selectively. • Justifying imbalance as kindness or strategy. • Quiet discomfort after benefiting unfairly. Injustice often hides behind good intentions.

Train justice by: • Reviewing decisions for consistency across people and contexts. • Correcting credit and blame immediately when misassigned. • Practicing fairness when no recognition follows. • Asking: "Would I accept this if roles were reversed?" Justice sharpens through consistent application when no one is watching.
